Hi Anne, this one is a difficult call. Rabbits can live perfectly happily alone although you need to make sure you give them lots of company. I do like to see them in pairs but in reality it can be difficult to achieve as they all individuals so nothing is sure.

You say you have a female. If you do decide to take another on to give her company I think your best bet would be a nuetered buck. It is difficult to pair up same sex rabbits. It can work but my same sex pairings have been mother and daughter, or two unrelated females who were paired up at 8 weeks old. I also had 2 brothers who lived in harmony until 6 months old. A few years back I kept 2 unnuetered bucks together for 5 years. This was very unusual, but there were no female rabbits around them, and they lived in a 14ft by 14ft stable!

I would suggest you try her on her own first and see how she is. You could then consider finding her a friend later if she seems unhappy. If you do decide to find her some company you could either buy a young male and keep them in different hutches until you have him nuetered when he is older. Or you could go to a rescue centre and find a nuetered buck there. There are lots needing loving homes : )
Good luck with your rabbit, I am sure she will bring you lots of fun. I love French Lops, they are all such individual characters.

Hi, You have the most adorable rabbits. I ran across your website while searching the web. Your bunnies are absolutely adorable. I saw that a lot of them seemed paired up. I just purchased a gray French Lop for the first time and am wondering if I should try to find her a friend so she won't be lonely. Do yours seem okay alone or would they be better with a friend.

Thanks!
Anne
